Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired is looking for a temporary O.D. to fill in for a 12 week maternity leave beginning 2/15/2024. The position would be one day a week (Wednesdays) from 9am to 4pm. This is a paid opportunity.

Job Title: Low Vision Optometrist Position Family: Vision Services

Reports to: Low Vision Manager Effective Date: 4-15-2022

Job Summary:

Low Vision Optometrist to conduct clinical evaluations and make recommendations for equipment for clients referred to the Low Vision Services Department.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation, including near and distance visual acuity measurements, contrast sensitivity testing, and visual fields.
• Demonstrate, recommend, fit and adjust low vision equipment to individual patients, including fitting of prisms for field enhancement and prescription of Bioptic telescopic systems.
• Recommend appropriate patient follow up and care options, including occupational and low vision therapy.
• Complete documentation of legal blindness for NIB program clients.
• Answer patient questions and provide advice and education to clients and potential clients regarding vision and optical issues, participate as a guest speaker for agency events.
• Participate in demonstrations of Low Vision Care to UC Ophthalmology residents monthly.
• Complete billing sheets and documentation for all patient interactions, submit mileage and day sheets with accuracy and within stated time frames.
• Complete special projects, marketing, or other assignments to help meet program or agency needs including program planning, program development and identification of unmet needs.
